10/11/12 Lorain, Ohio Around 3:00 PM EST Today, LifeInLorain took a short walk through the woods at the canoe and kayak launch located in French Creek Metro Park. There are still plenty of colors out as this area has not seen a hard frost yet. Some of the trees have lost there leaves while still others are yet to change. Below is the Fall Color Report. (Pictures) After the photos I will explain a little about the park and canoe kayak launch where these photos were taken. The Lorain County Metro Park System maintains a canoe and kayak launch on the French Creek, just up river, or in this case, up the creek from where it dumps into the Black River. As you can see from the picture above, the launch is made of plastic and has rollers. This is a very nice launch. You can drive vehicle down a gravel road, unload your canoe or kayak and then return to the parking area at the top of the hill. This launch is located on the south end of Lake Breeze Road, just south of Colorado Ave., (US 611) in Sheffield, Ohio. A great place to put in if you want to check out the fall colors along the river by canoe, and then be picked up at the mouth of the Black River where the river meets Great Lake Erie.
