Grilling Season is Here!

by Mark Schrull

5/23/2013 Lorain, Ohio, USA – Grilling season is upon us! And everyone with grilling1a back yard grill does a little something to make their dinner on the grill special.

This evening at LifeInLorain we grilled burgers and Portobello mushroom caps which we found as the produce of the week at an Aldis food market.

We dusted the burgers with garlic salt and onion powder.

The mushroom caps were buttered and then sprayed with olive oil.

We grilled the burgers as we liked them.  (Rhonda likes hers well done, I am a medium well kind of guy.)  We keep the mushroom caps off the high heat until grilling2the very end and then sear them with the flames coming up from the dripping burger fat.

Cheese is the last thing we add, in this case we used a Monterrey Jack and Mozzarella blend.

Moving the burgers off the heat, and closing the lid lets the heat melt the cheese to a delicious goodness.

Garlic and HerbWe like peppered tomato on our burgers, and we found this tasty garlic and herb bread today at Walmart.

This weekend is Memorial Day and the official start of summer.  Many grills with be a blazing.  I hope your cook out is as good as ours was this evening.sandwich2

  1. I just posted an entry on burger safety tips and cooking/handling ground beef. That got me craving burgers, and yours look delicious! I still haven’t had a chance to use the grill this summer. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to soon. Thanks for sharing!
